Did you know Werner Erhard's real name is Jack Rosenberg, and that he deserted his first wife and 4 children, and married another woman (and incested two of the daughters he had by her), while he was still married to the first wife he deserted? And that his claims to having "completed" all these issues with all these family members are only his delusions - the family members he abused are still devastated by the damage he has done. This is the man that so many people have trusted and believed in as their savior. So many people in SYDA are going to these workshops. It's a bad scene. Subj: The SYDA/est conflict, c. 1990 Date: 96-04-12 13:21:55 EDT From: Howie Sm Dear AOL readers, More Siddha Yoga history connecting an est spinoff to the SYDA discipleship. Did you hear about the SYDA mess in Houston during late 1990? After much three-way conflict between the center steering committee, center participants, and GM/South Fallsburg, a SYDA center closed because SYDAites were promoting LIFESPRING (an est spinoff) events during center programs. Related to this is the story that around this time, Houston ashramites were prohibited from doing seva (labor) because of their participation in LIFESPRING. Subj: You were there Date: 96-04-12 15:52:00 EDT From: BVena Some of you were no doubt there: Years ago GM was giving a talk in SF. She was talking about some Indian devotees that told her they were going to India. She said she told them not to go. The plane crashed and they were all killed. She said derisively that's what happens when you are not at the right place at the right time. Very compassionate. Struck me as mean at the time but I held my breath. This was the same summer her brother used verses out of the Bamdoozlebag...I mean Guru Gita to threaten people who weren't doing his twisted bidding. Held my breath again. He also made some nasty comments about gays. They had been rioting in San Francisco while he was there. The crowd roared with laughter. One girl I know walked out on his talk. Pretty brave (she is not a lesbian..not the point). Wish I had the guts to use my instincts but they were busy being perverted by that whole SY guru is God thing. Oh yeah..Found out recently from a loyal devotee that a staff person in SF with HIV was thrown out into the street when he came down with pneumonia. He whined on "The ashram is not for sick people." Guess they used him up. If this is enlightenment they can keep it in the third world. Anyone committing satee any time soon. WGRL Raj Subj: Re:You were there Date: 96-04-12 18:24:07 EDT From: Howie Sm Dear BVena and others, I wasn't in San Francisco, but I did hear a version of the plane crash story from a center leader/long time disciple in another part of the country. It took the form of: 1) disciples didn't listen to the guru so now they are dead. 2) she (the guru) "knew" the plane was going to crash before it did, THEREFORE she is omniscient. Yet another sterling example of the interpretative powers of the SYDA disciple Subj: Want stupid? Here's stupid Date: 96-04-12 18:26:36 EDT From: Howie Sm Dear BVena and others, Speaking of incredibly stupid public statements by Gurumayi . . . Were any of you in South Fallsburg when at a large public program she paused in recognition of the "victims of the California earthquake?" This "pause" implied that there had been a tragedy, that there were victims, and so on. After the program I immediately looked into what had happened. Here's what I learned. Gurumayi's ominous and grandiose mention of this earthquake occurred moments--literally minutes--after a breaking story had been aired that there had been a California earthquake. (Guess who was chilling with the boob tube just before doing a first set as param-sadguru . . .) Here's my punch line: this earthquake (which was years before the big one that caused damage) caused NO SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE OR INJURY. It was a little blip on the seismograph, a mere curiosity for the seismologists--little more. Gurumayi had apparently miscalculated and made a South Fallsburg "spiritual event" out of a nothing on the news that she had misinterpreted. I guess she wanted to create some kind of grand "impression," she wanted to use the convenient material at hand as shtick fodder. Unlike the plane crash story, which "worked out" for her, the earthquake story didn't turn into a legend of the guru's omniscience, to be whispered by oldtimers to newcomers. The earthquake story is a clear illustration of the kind of cheesy self-aggrandizing gall that keeps fraud-gurus afloat.. Subj: Re:Want stupid? Here's stupid Date: 96-04-12 20:53:24 EDT From: ENOMNI Dear Comrades, For your amusement and entertainment, I thought I should continue my duty to analyze responses on this board by SY supporters: <> What is not being said here: if you met Gurumayi, you'd love and accept all that she did because she can do no wrong. <> What is not being said explicitly here: If you had lived there you would not be lying and saying bad things. Therefore because you are reporting bad things you must not have lived there. A transparent attempt at syllogism. <> Actually there are thre ways, if you are rich and famous you qualify for a private audience because you are an "SC"--or special consideration person. <> Not really: In increasing proportion, those who seek to address Gurumayi in darshan are escorted to the side by either an ashram therapist, swami, or other designated seer. Additionally, those who contemplate speaking to her have at times witnessed public humiliation first hand. <> Last I heard, via the Darshan Secretary's Office, all letters addressed to Gurumayi are "offered" to Nityananda (meaning they sit in a basket for a day or whatever in the temple), and then they are burned. <
