From my own experience and from the many responses to my site it is with confidence that I make the following generalization:
You are much more likely to get your upline's help if you are "core".
CORE means an unshakable commitment to 10 activities:
Important note: five, possibly six, of
these 10 activities mean money in the pockets of high-level distributors
from motivation peddling and not from selling Amway. These activities are
followed with asterisks.
The Amway distributor must BE CORE to be considered "serious" by their upline, especially their upline diamond distributor. Distributors who are not completely "core" are generally not assisted by their upline or, as they say in AMO language, "helped".
The costs of "being core" can run into several thousand dollars a year and those distributors who can't get it together to pay for it are often casualties of the AMO Squeeze and to rub salt into the wound these distributors' resulting "negativity" becomes a bother to their upline and are often eventually "left on their own" (read: not helped).
The idea that the "help" offered by upline to downline is based on altruism is ridiculous yet this is the notion championed at AMO rallies, on tapes and on Amvox messages. How can any distributor honestly say that they would help a distributor they didn't feel would bring profit to their business? Yet, this is a pervasively perpetuated notion.
